This painting which was inspired by the Noel Coward poem Mad Dogs and Englishmen, was first shown in 1992 in the God’s Children exhibition at The Edinburgh Gallery. This is one of a series of paintings from the early 1990s that Vettriano has set on beaches and which are inspired by the coastal views local to him when he was growing up on the East coast of Scotland.
